Salti Gomitolo
Type Resurrection
This typeface was inspired by the title lettering of Salti di Gomitolo, a 1920 book by Italian author Antonio Baldini. The type was found on a book cover among other books in a vintage market in Italy, where its lettering immediately stood out. The title translates to “ball of yarn”, a fitting description for a collection of short stories that wander through a random and winding course of events, much like a ball of yarn unrolling in unexpected directions. Built entirely in lowercase, it speaks with a soft, yet confident tone.
This type was apart of one of my other projects, Avigliano’s, as secondary type.
